The
7010 ARINC-708A PCI Video Interface Board is a PCI 32-Bit 5V standard short card designed to output video signals to be used for the ARINC 708 Bus.
Key Features:
- 32-bit Slave read/write PCI (Rev. 2.1) ARINC-708A PCI Video Interface board
- Uses only 256 Bytes of VME memory space
- Simultaneous 2 channel start capability
- Programmable primary or secondary channel transmit select
- Can be mapped anywhere in address space
- Two transmit channels can each hold up to twenty 1600 bit words at a time
- Loopback test feature for both channels allows the user to read memory back onto the PCI bus
- This Product was designed, built and used for driving displays compatible with the ARINC-708A Display Data Bus
Functional Description:
The ARINC-708A PCI Video Interface Board is a memory-mapped multi-layer slave board communicating to the host processor using the PCI Bus. The board has a host-BIOS defined base address that is set during initialization and must be used for the software to address all functions.
A reset sent to the board initializes all functions and a read of the status register verifies that the on-board FIFO's are empty. Instructions are then downloaded to the Control Register indicating the primary or secondary Channels 1 and/or 2 to be used during transmit or the proper loopback channel to be used for test reads back to the PCI bus. The Interval Value register is loaded with the correct delay between the 1600 bit words and then the data is downloaded to the FIFO's. Next, the Start Registers are written to begin transmitting the data. The host is responsible for downloading all channel data and monitoring the status register to make sure that the FIFO's are not empty. The host does this by monitoring the status bits Half Full flags from the FIFO's and then determines when to download new data. The process may be stopped by writing to the start registers.
Physical Description:
The ARINC-708A PCI Video Interface Board is implemented on a PCI 32-Bit standard 5V short board. The board interfaces with the Silicon Graphics PCI bus back plane. On the front edge of the board, a 25-pin subminiature "D" type male connector is used for outputting the Channel data. On the top edge of the board, a 10-pin connector is used for in-system programming and a 50-pin connector is used for test points.
